Many congratulations to all those who attended the recent Awards Ceremony at Acorn the Business Centre.  This was for learners who have successfully completed learndirect courses and obtained recognised qualifications.     

In the last year there has been great interest from both the general public and local businesses who are keen to learn more about IT and gain new skills in many areas: 

• over 800 learners registered with learndirect

• over 550 successful course completions including 150 accredited courses

• 100 learners completed the European Computer Driving Licence

•  50 have successfully completed the OCR word processing exams

• 25 have completed OCR New CLAIT. 

Courses are available both as tutor-led classes and on a flexible basis at Acorn the Business Centre.  The IT suite is open from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday – from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm on Wednesday and 9.00 am to 4.00 pm on Friday.  There is always a tutor on duty to help you in-centre or you can do your course at home or anywhere you have Internet access.  Course prices are reasonable (discounts available to those on qualifying benefits) and are available to anyone over the age of 18.
